If you've ever wanted to work for NPR, now is the time. According to their press release, "NPR today announced a major expansion of its news operation, investing $15 million over the next three years to add reporters, editors, producers and managers, and to open new domestic and international bureaus..."

The owner of the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and 12 other dailies plans to cut jobs from its publishing group...
The Christian Science Monitor plans to cut costs, which could include reducing the staff size.
Ad agencies are starting to staff up. And that is a good sign.
