I'm a senior with aspirations of writing for profit. I'm looking for a mentor. Can you help direct me to one?
Bill W.

Hi Bill,

Mentoring programs run the gamut, from highly structured efforts with computerized matchmaking and on-site meetings, to simple initiatives where older employees join younger ones for beer and bonding. The formal ones cost money. You can also hire a writing coach to help you. One of the best things to do is find a discussion, mailing list online that has writers on it, and put out your request.

A great deal depends on where you live. And if you are in school, you have access to a community of writers who you could approach for mentoring purposes. Remember, too, that there are books and classes on how to become a professional writer, so check those out.
